The other major difference are the Gundam Bael's wings, which while thin and not very impressive, still look very unique and have lots of articulation, meaning that they can be oriented to suit any pose. </p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/883383-3/bael.jpg?g2_GALLERYSID=16c24df8b24115aa381498548880fd43" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="bael.jpg" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/883384-3/baelback.jpg?g2_GALLERYSID=16c24df8b24115aa381498548880fd43" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="baelback.jpg" /></p> <p>The Gundam Bael's sole accessories are his dual swords, which with their larger hilts and longer blades makes them an upgraded version of the Grimgerde's. The suit's articulation is just like any other ibo high grade sharing it's inner frame,(so, great) meaning that it can use the dual swords to great effect. They can be stored on a multi jointed armature mounted on the Gundam's back skirt and this, like the wing back pack can be removed for a more streamlined appearance.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/883388-3/baelpose.jpg?g2_GALLERYSID=16c24df8b24115aa381498548880fd43" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="baelpose.jpg" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/883389-3/baelpose2.jpg?g2_GALLERYSID=16c24df8b24115aa381498548880fd43" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="baelpose2.jpg" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/883390-3/baelpose3.jpg?g2_GALLERYSID=16c24df8b24115aa381498548880fd43" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="baelpose3.jpg" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/883385-3/baelback2.jpg?g2_GALLERYSID=16c24df8b24115aa381498548880fd43" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="baelback2.jpg" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/883386-3/baelback3.jpg?g2_GALLERYSID=16c24df8b24115aa381498548880fd43" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="baelback3.jpg" /></p> <p>The Gundam Bael's color scheme is primarily white and blue, typical for a Gundam, but with a little yellow that keeps it from being monotonous. Other really great visual details are the pink detail etched into his shoulders, reminiscent of the Barbatos and the original symbol of the Gjallarhorn on it's left shoulder. The stickers supporting this color scheme are numerous for sure, but not that annoying. There are many small gray and pink details that require stickers, but none of them are difficult to put on, or problematic. The only stickers posing any sort of concern, are the two stickers seen on the tips of the Gundam's unusual "V fin". They stay most of the time, but can be subject to peeling every once and a while. </p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/883391-3/baelshoulder.jpg?g2_GALLERYSID=16c24df8b24115aa381498548880fd43" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="baelshoulder.jpg" /></p> <p>Gundam Bael's height is actually atypical for a High Grade, as he is really tall! This definitely makes him look more impressive as, the Bael did end the Calamity war after all. </p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/883392-3/baelsize.jpg?g2_GALLERYSID=16c24df8b24115aa381498548880fd43" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="baelsize.jpg" /></p> <p>Overall yes, the High Grade 1/144 Gundam Bael is a great representation of the character that, despite having more than a few stickers, does the awesome design justice regardless. Take into account the few but fun accessories, great articulation and impressive size, the High Grade Gundam Bael is a stand out Iron Blooded Orphans kit, and an overall great high grade. <br class="giImageBlock-clear-both" /></p></div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-scale"> <h3 class="field-label">Scale</h3> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item"></div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-content-taxonomy field-field-chardesign"> <h3 class="field-label">Char. It's so interesting to me that a mobile suit can look as asymmetrical as a design could be but at the same time, look more like a traditional gundam than any other from the series. But does this kit live up to it's intriguing design? </p> <p>The high grade Gundam Astaroth is a very detailed and colorful design that is represented perfectly here. It is barely missing any important detail and looks almost as dynamic straight built as it would if it were painted. The abstract design does not suffer at all in this 1/144 scale interpretation. </p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/868385-3/astaroth.jpg?g2_GALLERYSID=41c9fe42976cf24500d6f1bec0a4ede6" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="Gundam Astaroth" /></p> <p>Articulation is standard, same as any high grade iron blooded orphans figure with one notable exception. The Astaroth features a large secondary hand acting as a shield on the left arm. While it looks great, I wish it could make a fist because, the articulation it does have is kind've pointless. </p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/868389-3/astarothshield.jpg?g2_GALLERYSID=41c9fe42976cf24500d6f1bec0a4ede6" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="Gundam Astaroth" /></p> <p>Accessories are all well designed, and the kit can hold all of them very well. Astaroth includes a small knife and a machine gun for sidearms but the main focus here is the impressive collapsible sword that is taller than the kit itself. It can store on his back or be unfolded for use. A second handle is included so the figure can actually hold such a comically long sword which I really appreciate, considering the last high grade iron blooded orphans kit to come with such a weapon (Kimaris) couldn't even support the weight of it's weapon. </p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/868387-3/astarothgun.jpg?g2_GALLERYSID=41c9fe42976cf24500d6f1bec0a4ede6" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="Gundam Astaroth" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/868388-3/astarothknife.jpg?g2_GALLERYSID=41c9fe42976cf24500d6f1bec0a4ede6" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="Gundam Astaroth" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/868391-3/astarothsword.jpg?g2_GALLERYSID=41c9fe42976cf24500d6f1bec0a4ede6" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="Gundam Astaroth" /></p> <p>Size is standard as well, coming just short of the high grade Barbatos Lupus. </p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/868390-3/astarothsize.jpg?g2_GALLERYSID=41c9fe42976cf24500d6f1bec0a4ede6" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="Gundam Astaroth" /></p> <p>Overall, I really couldn't be happier with a high grade. So after getting the high grade, is it any good? </p> <p>The details present here are certainly great. Everything is very clean, and the proportions are very accurate. The Kimaris' color scheme in the anime is relatively simple, so very few stickers are provided to complete any necessary details. Color wise, my favorite parts of the design are the turquoise triangles on the shoulders and the vibrant yellow eyes that really stand out and look amazing. The paladin aesthetic really works here as well. I love the smooth lines and rounded off areas in contrast with the sharp angles. It really helps this gundam look like a knight in armor. </p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/868360-3/kimaris.jpg?g2_GALLERYSID=41c9fe42976cf24500d6f1bec0a4ede6" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="Gundam Kimaris" /></p> <p>For accessories, Kimaris is relatively light. He has a really cool but small retractable sword that stores on his back skirt and a huge lance. The lance, while really impressive looking, is way too heavy for the figure to actually hold which is a huge disappointment for me, and is probably the only mark against the figure. Too bad it's such an iconic detail to screw up! </p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/868363-3/kimarispose.jpg?g2_GALLERYSID=41c9fe42976cf24500d6f1bec0a4ede6" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="Gundam Kimaris" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/868364-3/kimarispose2.jpg?g2_GALLERYSID=41c9fe42976cf24500d6f1bec0a4ede6" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="Gundam Kimaris" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/868366-3/kimarissword.jpg?g2_GALLERYSID=41c9fe42976cf24500d6f1bec0a4ede6" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="Gundam Kimaris" /></p> <p>Articulation is pretty standard for a new high grade gunpla. Some joints are a bit inhibited by the armor, particularly the shoulders but, not enough to be a huge mark against it. </p> <p>For aerial poses, a stand is included and, the legs can actually transform for space flight like they do in the show. </p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/868362-3/kimarislegs.jpg?g2_GALLERYSID=41c9fe42976cf24500d6f1bec0a4ede6" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="Gundam Kimaris" /></p> <p>Height is not an issue for this kit, as it is basically just as tall as it's rival, the Gundam Barbatos. </p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/868365-3/kimarissize.jpg?g2_GALLERYSID=41c9fe42976cf24500d6f1bec0a4ede6" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="Gundam Kimaris" /></p> <p>Overall do I recommend the high grade Gundam Kimaris? Yes and no. The figure shows lots of promise with it's articulation, transforming parts, retractable sword, and color detail but unfortunately, him not being able to hold his most iconic weapon is really disappointing, and underwhelming as something could probably have been done so it could have worked. Sadly, the high grade Gundam Kimaris could have been perfect, but it has one fatal flaw. </p> <p><iframe marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" src="//ws-na.amazon-adsystem.com/widgets/q?ServiceVersion=20070822&amp;OneJS=1&amp;Operation=GetAdHtml&amp;MarketPlace=US&amp;source=ss&amp;ref=as_ss_li_til&amp;ad_type=product_link&amp;tracking_id=quibx-20&amp;marketplace=amazon&amp;region=US&amp;placement=B01A9UOZ56&amp;asins=B01A9UOZ56&amp;linkId=19f53ea318ac8b9a0e0841dac48f261a&amp;show_border=true&amp;link_opens_in_new_window=true"></iframe><br class="giImageBlock-clear-both" /></p></div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-scale"> <h3 class="field-label">Scale</h3> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item">1:144</div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-content-taxonomy field-field-chardesign"> <h3 class="field-label">Char. Parts are included to build Barbatos form 1 and 4, which is a nice addition for those who want a kit of this mobile suit's first appearance. </p> <p>Form 1 carries a sharp, very non Gundam aesthetic that looks really nice in the usual Gundam colors, even if the asymmetrical arms look a little bare on the shoulders. Please note I have panel lined, and added some weathering to the kit so, it's appearance is slightly altered. In this form, Barbatos uses it's iconic mace that can be wielded very easily in the hands, and be stored very securely on the backpack with the help of a grey plastic adapter. </p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/861359-3/barbatos.jpg?g2_GALLERYSID=919c9b6a15cff9748ee645024d4eaf13" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="barbatos" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/861360-3/Barbatosback.jpg?g2_GALLERYSID=919c9b6a15cff9748ee645024d4eaf13" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="Barbatos back" /><img src="/gallery2/d/861367-3/barbatosstorage.jpg?g2_GALLERYSID=919c9b6a15cff9748ee645024d4eaf13" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="barbatos storage" /></p> <p>The articulation is best on form 1 because, the shoulders are less obstructed. Everything is very solid, and nothing feels like it will fall off. The figure even has a full diaphragm joint in addition to a waist rotation, much like the Gundam revive, but much deeper. All in all, the articulation is above average for a high grade, which is great for dynamic, and gestural poses! </p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/861361-3/barbatosdiaphragm.jpg?g2_GALLERYSID=919c9b6a15cff9748ee645024d4eaf13" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="barbatos diaphragm" /><br /> <img src="/gallery2/d/861362-3/barbatosdiaphragm2.jpg?g2_GALLERYSID=919c9b6a15cff9748ee645024d4eaf13" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="barbatos diaphragm2" /><img src="/gallery2/d/861363-3/barbatospose.jpg?g2_GALLERYSID=919c9b6a15cff9748ee645024d4eaf13" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="barbatos pose" /></p> <p>Form 4, the more iconic, filled out, and symmetrical of the two is also present in the form of add ons for the shoulders, and a new left arm to match the right one. Personally, this form is my favorite, and despite the shoulders getting in the way of some arm motion that was unobstructed in the much lighter form 1. </p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/861365-3/barbatosshoulders.jpg?g2_GALLERYSID=919c9b6a15cff9748ee645024d4eaf13" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="barbatos shoulders" /></p> <p>Form 4 also adds an additional weapon, in the form of a red frame esq. katana to slice through enemy mobile suits. The katana also has its own mounting attachment for storage on Barbatos's back.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/861368-3/barbatosstorage2.jpg?g2_GALLERYSID=919c9b6a15cff9748ee645024d4eaf13" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="barbatos storage2" /></p> <p>The Gundam Barbatos's height is average for a high grade and also places him in line with deluxe transformers.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/861366-3/barbatossize.jpg?g2_GALLERYSID=919c9b6a15cff9748ee645024d4eaf13" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="barbatos size" /></p> <p>The detailing on this kit is average at best. The color separation is really basic, so I hope you like Stickers because Barbatos has quite a lot of them. Some, like the eyes, or the white on the back booster (that can fold out by the way) are fine, while others, such as the grey panels on the calves are really awful, and peel at the sides on their own. </p> <p>Other than that, the high grade Gundam Barbatos is a really good figure that has some great pose ability, simple but solid accessories, and a smooth, but sharp aesthetic that I really enjoy.<br /> <br class="giImageBlock-clear-both" /></p></div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-scale"> <h3 class="field-label">Scale</h3> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item">1:144</div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-content-taxonomy field-field-chardesign"> <h3 class="field-label">Char. One of them was the Wing Gundam Fenice by Italian champion Ricardo Fellini. When the Fenice got wrecked, Ricardo rebuilt it into the Fenice Rinascita. The previous asymmetrical fencer look was ditched in favor of a sleek reimagining of Kunio Okawara’s original Wing Gundam. I’m not a big fan of the latter, but this new take on the design made me eagerly anticipating a kit release.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/851484-3/rinascitabox01.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=99bb67a2ac4944565f3bf66c3d55dde7" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="rinascitabox01" /></p> <p>Inside the box are 10 runners and a sticker sheet. For one thing the claws are meant to be displayed outwards in mobile suit mode. It doesn’t disrupt articulation in any way but I noticed that several online reviewers glossed over that point and left the claws collapsed in. What is disruptive however is the chunk of armor jutting out from the lower arm below the fist. This piece prevents straight accessory handles from slotting down all the way into the fist and forces you to pop the fist off altogether if you want to make adjustments. </p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/851576-3/rinascita21.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=99bb67a2ac4944565f3bf66c3d55dde7" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="rinascita21" /></p> <p>The wings can rotate at the base and pivot at two points, while the flaps can move sideways.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/851578-3/rinascita23.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=99bb67a2ac4944565f3bf66c3d55dde7" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="rinascita23" /></p> <p>The Rinascita comes with only one pair of holding hands and a back connector piece that lets you attach parts from other kits like the Star Build Strike's Plavsky wings.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/851591-3/rinascita24.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=99bb67a2ac4944565f3bf66c3d55dde7" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="rinascita24" /></p> <p>The shield has a folding handle that goes through the fist, but getting it in is more of a hassle than it should be thanks to the folding cover over it.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/851592-3/rinascita25.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=99bb67a2ac4944565f3bf66c3d55dde7" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="rinascita25" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/851593-3/rinascita26.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=99bb67a2ac4944565f3bf66c3d55dde7" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="rinascita26" /></p> <p>The top of the shield has a long fin that can move slightly but the purpose of this function eludes me.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/851594-3/rinascita27.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=99bb67a2ac4944565f3bf66c3d55dde7" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="rinascita27" /></p> <p>The Rinascita comes with a customized version of the Wing Gundam’s Buster rifle. Produced for the military organization of Gjallarhorn, it serves as their primary Mobile Suit force spanning between the Earth Sphere and the colonies on Mars.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/845620-3/Graze+axe.jpg?g2_GALLERYSID=4202e99360d20c8640b13576f562a245" width="516" height="640" class="giThumbnail" alt="Graze axe" /></p> <p>“It’s not a Master Grade.”</p> <p>Although they are labeled as “Non-Grade” kits like those from “Gundam SEED” and “Gundam 00,” the 1:100 scale models for “Iron-Blooded Orphans” have more features and molded details that set them apart from the series’ 1:144 scale High Grade Gunpla. </p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/845556-3/parts+manual.jpg?g2_GALLERYSID=4202e99360d20c8640b13576f562a245" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="parts manual" /></p> <p>The key gimmick for the 1:100 scale models is removable armor and a fully articulated inner frame designed to better match the Mobile Suit’s movement. </p> <p>The reason is the Mobile Suits’ designs have the frames exposed between gaps in the armor and during the course of the series, they have been shown at different stages of repair with their armor removed and showing the mechanical frames underneath.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/845634-3/Graze+frame+shame.jpg?g2_GALLERYSID=4202e99360d20c8640b13576f562a245" width="406" height="640" class="giThumbnail" alt="Graze frame shame" /></p> <p>While this feature has until now, been exclusive to Bandai’s Master Grade model kit line, the inner frames for the 1:100 scale models from “Iron-Blooded Orphans” are made with a simplified level of engineering and at a fraction of the cost to produce than the more prestigious brand.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/845551-3/parts+frame.jpg?g2_GALLERYSID=4202e99360d20c8640b13576f562a245" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="parts frame" /></p> <p>The 1:100 scale EB-06 Graze is the second model released for the series in this scale, colored after Gjallarhorn’s standard ground forces type.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/845544-3/BOX.jpg?g2_GALLERYSID=4202e99360d20c8640b13576f562a245" width="640" height="500" class="giThumbnail" alt="BOX" /></p> <p>The model’s box has a nice illustration of the Graze in full view with screen captures taken from the first three episodes with the machines’ pilots, Lieutenant Crank Zent and his subordinate Ein Dalton.</p> <p>The Graze was released as an all-in-one “Standard/Commander Type” model, meaning it has two alternate head pieces to distinguish its rank following in the tradition of the MS-06 Zaku II.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/845552-3/parts+head.jpg?g2_GALLERYSID=4202e99360d20c8640b13576f562a245" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="parts head" /></p> <p> It comes with a flat topped head for the “Standard” type and the one with a blade antenna for the “Commander” type, making it the EB-06S.</p> <p>Other than that, the model is exactly the same from the neck down.</p> <p>Out of the box, the model is comprised of 8 plastic runners and one polycap set. </p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/845545-3/parts.jpg?g2_GALLERYSID=4202e99360d20c8640b13576f562a245" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="parts" /></p> <p>The parts are molded in the Graze’s primary colors with green and dark green plastic for its armor and its inner frame molded in light gray plastic. The weapons are molded in gray plastic while the turbine for the Ahab Reactor protruding through its back as well as the camera lens for its head are molded in yellow plastic.</p> <p>The number of runners does not reflect on the model’s difficulty but it does show attention to color separation and parts design.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/845555-3/parts+leg.jpg?g2_GALLERYSID=4202e99360d20c8640b13576f562a245" width="640" height="416" class="giThumbnail" alt="parts leg" /></p> <p>What offsets the parts count in the Graze’s construction are the additional parts designed for the 1:100 scale Gundam Barbatos.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/845548-3/parts+Barbatos.jpg?g2_GALLERYSID=4202e99360d20c8640b13576f562a245" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="parts Barbatos" /></p> <p>Parts from the “A” Runner and the whole “E2” runner are meant to downgrade the Gundam back to how it first appeared with a block shield on its left forearm and used the salvaged shoulder armor from the Graze.</p> <p>The model has very little need for paint, but it can be used to touch up a few spots to really bring out the details.</p> <p>The sensor eye is one of the few points on the model that really demands painting, which otherwise the model includes a decal to make up for.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/845553-3/parts+heads.jpg?g2_GALLERYSID=4202e99360d20c8640b13576f562a245" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="parts heads" /></p> <p>I painted the sensor eye with a mix of Silver, Insignia Yellow, and Turn Signal Amber acrylic paint that I also used on the outer camera lens as well.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/845550-3/parts+color.jpg?g2_GALLERYSID=4202e99360d20c8640b13576f562a245" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="parts color" /></p> <p>For the caps on the two yellow rings on the chest, I used Gunship Gray paint that I also used to paint the pads of the feet, inside the armor, and a few of the indented panels on the Graze’s surface.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/845557-3/parts+paint.jpg?g2_GALLERYSID=4202e99360d20c8640b13576f562a245" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="parts paint" /></p> <p><img the Graze’s battle axe with some silver acrylic and finished the weapon sight on the long rifle with a metallic green paint.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/845558-3/parts+rifle.jpg?g2_GALLERYSID=4202e99360d20c8640b13576f562a245" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="parts rifle" /></p> <p>As I said earlier, the 1:100 scale Graze is NOT a Master Grade. </p> <p>Building the model isn’t difficult, as the engineering is more simplified without being too elaborate or carried away with mechanical details to create a fully formed, articulated skeleton.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/845633-3/Graze+frame+rear.jpg?g2_GALLERYSID=4202e99360d20c8640b13576f562a245" width="507" height="640" class="giThumbnail" alt="Graze frame Graze is missing an accessible cockpit and there are no pilot figurines to go with it.</p> <p>There are some functioning mechanical parts such as the sliding pistons in its midsection that extend and contract with the chest movement as well as the exposable thrusters on the back of the legs. </p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/845547-3/parts+assembly.jpg?g2_GALLERYSID=4202e99360d20c8640b13576f562a245" posts for the hips that extend the legs range of movement around its armor.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/845663-3/Graze+kneel.jpg?g2_GALLERYSID=4202e99360d20c8640b13576f562a245" width="482" height="640" class="giThumbnail" alt="Graze kneel" /></p> <p>One of the things I liked with building the model is how Bandai streamlines the construction process using duplicate parts to create the limbs but doing so without going to the excess of having too many duplicated runners. </p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/845546-3/parts+arms.jpg?g2_GALLERYSID=4202e99360d20c8640b13576f562a245" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="parts arms" /></p> <p>The arms are built from one runner, while the parts for the legs are on another.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/845638-3/Graze+front.jpg?g2_GALLERYSID=4202e99360d20c8640b13576f562a245" width="428" height="640" class="giThumbnail" alt="Graze front" /></p> <p>Fully built, the Graze stands 7 inches tall from head to heel and has a conflicting, inspired design to it.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/845631-3/Graze+frame+front.jpg?g2_GALLERYSID=4202e99360d20c8640b13576f562a245" width="435" combination of different machines from across the Gundam universe such as the Leo from “Gundam W,” the original series’ Zaku II, and even reflects Ebikawa’s work from “Full Metal Panic!”</p> <p>The Graze even borrows some elements from “Code Geass,” with its exposable sensor eye inside the head.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/845627-3/Graze+eye.jpg?g2_GALLERYSID=4202e99360d20c8640b13576f562a245" still very well balanced on its stiletto heels.</p> <p>The Graze comes with the minimal amount of accessories including a set of jump boosters, two sets of hands and two weapons.</p> <p><img connect the boosters to the Graze’s back for the machine’s use in space. While the weapon holds together with the tab inserted into the hand, the long piece on the bottom interlocks it with the wrist.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/845667-3/Graze+rifle+down.jpg?g2_GALLERYSID=4202e99360d20c8640b13576f562a245" width="545" height="640" class="giThumbnail" alt="Graze rifle down" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/845626-3/Graze+duel+ready.jpg?g2_GALLERYSID=4202e99360d20c8640b13576f562a245" width="640" height="448" class="giThumbnail" alt="Graze duel ready" /></p> <p>The Battle Axe is as simple as it gets, but the weapon looks good and the arms have just the right amount of freedom to swing it.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/845621-3/Graze+axe+and+rifle.jpg?g2_GALLERYSID=4202e99360d20c8640b13576f562a245" width="640" height="436" class="giThumbnail" alt="Graze axe and rifle" /></p> <p>The only obnoxious detail is the post that extends off of the side for pegging it into the hip skirt when the Graze isn’t using it.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/845625-3/Graze+duel.jpg?g2_GALLERYSID=4202e99360d20c8640b13576f562a245" width="471" height="640" class="giThumbnail" alt="Graze duel" /></p> <p>Overall the Graze is a fun and good looking model that captures the design and the theme of its scale almost perfectly. While the armor looks good, the model has its best articulation as a bare frame. Even though it’s fast becoming the most retooled model in the series next to the Barbatos, the Graze shows it has just as much potential as any Gundam frame.<br /> <br class="giImageBlock-clear-both" /></p></div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-scale"> <h3 class="field-label">Scale</h3> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item">1:100</div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-content-taxonomy field-field-chardesign"> <h3 class="field-label">Char. The Build Fighters universe is naturally no stranger to this practice. As the story goes, the Wing Gundam Zero Honoo found its way into the hands of one Tsubasa Souma. He/she gave the WZH a new head and decided that it didn’t have enough melee weapons so the Feather Blade was created. This means that, yes, the WZH now has <i>swords with knives on them mounted on top of its swords</i> because why the heck not? Around the same time of the Wing Zero Honoo kit’s release, the Feather Blade kit was released as a Hobby Japan exclusive.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/833250-3/wzhfbbox01.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=a672f73c46e6ab8dc330d7692c6a3317" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhfbbox01" /></p> <p>The box contains a single runner molded in white. The two page building instructions are part of the magazine.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/833266-3/wzhfb01.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=a672f73c46e6ab8dc330d7692c6a3317" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhfb01" /></p> <p>As with nearly all Hobby Japan kits, a moderate amount of painting needs to be done to get a look matching the source material. The primary colors being silver, yellow, red, green and grey.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/833267-3/wzhfb02.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=a672f73c46e6ab8dc330d7692c6a3317" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhfb02" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/833268-3/wzhfb03.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=a672f73c46e6ab8dc330d7692c6a3317" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhfb03" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/833269-3/wzhfb04.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=a672f73c46e6ab8dc330d7692c6a3317" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhfb04" /></p> <p>The kit includes parts for a new head that has a different faceplate and v-fin. Since no eye sticker is included, you’ll either have to paint the eyes or swap in the equivalent translucent part from WZH’s original head. I decided to go with the paint route by coating the eye area with a layer of silver then applying black and green. The result isn’t as perfect or shiny as I had wanted it to turn out but I’m still proud of it.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/833270-3/wzhfb05.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=a672f73c46e6ab8dc330d7692c6a3317" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhfb05" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/833286-3/wzhfb06.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=a672f73c46e6ab8dc330d7692c6a3317" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhfb06" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/833287-3/wzhfb07.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=a672f73c46e6ab8dc330d7692c6a3317" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhfb07" /></p> <p>Once assembly and painting is complete, you apply the upgrade to the WZH kit by replacing the head with the new one and attaching the Feather Blades to the wing binders via tight fitting racks. This configuration is known as the Wing Gundam Zero Flame Feder, but for brevity’s sake we’ll still refer to it as WZH.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/833288-3/wzhfb08.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=a672f73c46e6ab8dc330d7692c6a3317" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhfb08" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/833289-3/wzhfb09.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=a672f73c46e6ab8dc330d7692c6a3317" width="480" height="640" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhfb09" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/833290-3/wzhfb10.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=a672f73c46e6ab8dc330d7692c6a3317" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhfb10" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/833306-3/wzhfb11.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=a672f73c46e6ab8dc330d7692c6a3317" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhfb11" /></p> <p>The Feather Blade kit is a set of four weapons which are all held in the included pair of angled wrist hands. First up are the aptly named Feather Knives which come in a set of three. Unfortunately, much like WZH’s own binder swords they look very ornamental, not very threatening and are just for show contrary to what a famous Newtype once said.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/833307-3/wzhfb12.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=a672f73c46e6ab8dc330d7692c6a3317" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhfb12" /></p> <p>The other three weapons share a handle/hilt part that they attach to. I’m not sure how this is accomplished in-universe as there’s no place on the WZH to store the handle or the other blades. The first configuration is the Feather Glave. The blade itself is almost as a big as a Feather Knife but it’s still a bit small compared to the handle itself. A pole arm-type extension for the handle would have done wonders.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/833308-3/wzhfb13.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=a672f73c46e6ab8dc330d7692c6a3317" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhfb13" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/833309-3/wzhfb14.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=a672f73c46e6ab8dc330d7692c6a3317" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhfb14" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/833310-3/wzhfb15.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=a672f73c46e6ab8dc330d7692c6a3317" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhfb15" /></p> <p>The titular Feather Blade configuration measures up to an impressive 19 cm. If you think the blade is too vanilla by itself, you can literally put the Feather in Feather Blade by clipping on a knife holder that all three Feather Knives can slot into. It’s as ridiculous and cool as it sounds.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/833326-3/wzhfb16.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=a672f73c46e6ab8dc330d7692c6a3317" width="480" height="640" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhfb16" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/833327-3/wzhfb17.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=a672f73c46e6ab8dc330d7692c6a3317" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhfb17" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/833328-3/wzhfb18.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=a672f73c46e6ab8dc330d7692c6a3317" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhfb18" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/833329-3/wzhfb19.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=a672f73c46e6ab8dc330d7692c6a3317" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhfb19" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/833330-3/wzhfb20.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=a672f73c46e6ab8dc330d7692c6a3317" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhfb20" /></p> <p>If the above still doesn't sound highly over-compensating to you, you can double up on the Feather Blades to make the Feather Buster Sword configuration.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/833346-3/wzhfb21.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=a672f73c46e6ab8dc330d7692c6a3317" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhfb21" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/833347-3/wzhfb22.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=a672f73c46e6ab8dc330d7692c6a3317" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhfb22" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/833348-3/wzhfb23.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=a672f73c46e6ab8dc330d7692c6a3317" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhfb23" /></p> <p>Unlike their Anti-Ship Sword and Tactical Arm cousins from the Cosmic Era, the Feather Blades are much lighter and less likely to cause the kit's arms to sag quickly. One of these is the photonovel series Gundam Build Fighters Honoo. Gundam photonovels are generally a few half pages of text laid over touched up photos of customized gunpla and more often than not run in hobby magazines. This makes it somewhat difficult to get any kind of information on them as is the case with Honoo. What little is known about Honoo is that it involves a former builder named Yusei Kouen coming back into the hobby. Honoo generally translates to “flame” from Japanese, and if you thought the AMAZING Tatsuya Yuuki was over the top, hang on to your pants. Yusei is described as having a <i>burning</i> passion for Gunpla, has nearly all his custom builds in bright red paintjobs and often with a flame motif, equips some of his builds with a weapon that functions as a welding torch in its source work (and he has a huge stockpile of it for some reason), suffixes Honoo to nearly all of his builds’ names <i>and</i> the story chapters are numbered as “Flame #” in case all of the above wasn’t already shoving figurative fire down your throat. Just typing the above paragraph made me sweat.</p> <p>ANYWAY, previously the only sampling we got of Yusei’s handiwork was a Hobby Japan exclusive kit that let you give a new helmet and weapon (that being the Caletvwlch from Gundam SEED Astray) to an existing HGUC Zeta Gundam. However you still had to do whatever mod work was necessary to attach the HG Akatsuki’s Shiranui pack to it then recolor all the non-white parts to <i>burning</i> red. For Yusei’s next kit, we got the Wing Gundam Zero Honoo as a full blown release.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/814943-3/wzhonoohgbox01.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=d88e8c2f63aca9392f8063f54727252e" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhonoohgbox01" /></p> <p>Wing Zero Honoo (or WZH as I’ll be referring to it as for the remainder of the review) is the second Build Fighters kit to hail from a side story instead of the TV series. And like its predecessor the box is adorned with the logo of its source material, that being the sequel to Gundam Build Fighters Honoo: Gundam Build Fighters Honoo Try. The box is noticeably taller than that of the WZH’s base kit the HGAC Wing Gundam Zero.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/814944-3/wzhonoohgbox02.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=d88e8c2f63aca9392f8063f54727252e" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhonoohgbox02" /></p> <p>Inside the box are 10 runners and a sticker sheet. The only major runner reused from the Wing Zero kit is the B runner and even then it only reuses just a bit over half of the runner’s parts. In fact, if you happen to have the <a href="//collectiondx.com/toy_review/20_million_miles_earth/hgac_wing_gundam_zero">HGAC Wing Gundam Zero</a> kit like I do, you can take one of the excess thruster pairs from the WZH’s B runner and use them for the Wing Zero’s alternate feet so you no longer have to swap them between feet during transformation. That’s a pretty smokin’ bonus if I do say so myself.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/814945-3/wzhonoohgbox03.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=d88e8c2f63aca9392f8063f54727252e" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhonoohgbox03" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/814946-3/wzhonoohgbox04.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=d88e8c2f63aca9392f8063f54727252e" width="480" height="640" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhonoohgbox04" /></p> <p>As usual I start by painting the parts as much as possible while they’re still on the runners.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/814962-3/wzhonoohg01.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=d88e8c2f63aca9392f8063f54727252e" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhonoohg01" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/814963-3/wzhonoohg02.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=d88e8c2f63aca9392f8063f54727252e" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhonoohg02" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/814964-3/wzhonoohg03.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=d88e8c2f63aca9392f8063f54727252e" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhonoohg03" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/814965-3/wzhonoohg04.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=d88e8c2f63aca9392f8063f54727252e" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhonoohg04" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/814966-3/wzhonoohg05.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=d88e8c2f63aca9392f8063f54727252e" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhonoohg05" /></p> <p>Aside from sharing some internal joint parts and two accessories with Wing Zero, WZH is practically an entirely new fresh out of the blazing oven mold. Unlike Ricardo Fellini’s Wing Gundam Fenice, the WZH isn’t functionally different from the Wing Gundam Zero. Nothing on the design looks silly or out of place and this is a testament to the strength of letting the designers run wild within the setting of Build Fighters. After all, Gunpla is Freedom. <i>Burning</i> Freedom!</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/815048-3/wzhonoohg24.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=d88e8c2f63aca9392f8063f54727252e" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhonoohg24" /></p> <p>I’m not sure if the orange parts are the same type of plavsky crystals used on the Build Burning Gundam, but since they’re always orange instead of blue does this mean the kit is on fire all the time during battle? For that matter, given the Gunpla battle system’s arbitrary nature of gauging the performance of a kit, does Yusei go the extra scorching mile and just douses the model with gasoline before every fight?</p> <p>As this kits uses the same joints as the HGAC Wing Gundam Zero, it has identical articulation all around.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/815049-3/wzhonoohg25.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=d88e8c2f63aca9392f8063f54727252e" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhonoohg25" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/815050-3/wzhonoohg26.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=d88e8c2f63aca9392f8063f54727252e" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhonoohg26" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/815070-3/wzhonoohg27.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=d88e8c2f63aca9392f8063f54727252e" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhonoohg27" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/815071-3/wzhonoohg28.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=d88e8c2f63aca9392f8063f54727252e" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhonoohg28" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/815072-3/wzhonoohg29.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=d88e8c2f63aca9392f8063f54727252e" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhonoohg29" /></p> <p>One minor issue I have with the new feet is that they have less surface area, meaning that the model is somewhat less stable while standing than the Wing Gundam Zero. However, the redesign completely omits the thruster and thus the need to swap out the feet during transformation.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/815073-3/wzhonoohg30.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=d88e8c2f63aca9392f8063f54727252e" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhonoohg30" /></p> <p>If it wasn’t already obvious by now, WZH’s wing binders are patterned after <i>burning</i> flames! Because they have their own unique hinge joints, they don’t share Wing Gundam Zero’s problem of getting a bit loose when you open them up.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/815074-3/wzhonoohg31.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=d88e8c2f63aca9392f8063f54727252e" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhonoohg31" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/815075-3/wzhonoohg32.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=d88e8c2f63aca9392f8063f54727252e" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhonoohg32" /></p> <p>The model only comes with one pair of holding hands, which is more than enough because these hands glow red hot with an awesome power! (Ok not really)</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/815082-3/wzhonoohg33.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=d88e8c2f63aca9392f8063f54727252e" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhonoohg33" /></p> <p>While the Wing Gundam Zero’s shield had a faux nosecone aesthetic to it, the WZH’s shield looks like an entire futuristic spaceship straight out of a TurboGrafx-16 shoot’em up. The shield comes with a detachable clip that lets it rotate at the connection point. The shield needs all the range of motion it can get because it’s so long it gets obstructed by the shoulder armor.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/815083-3/wzhonoohg34.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=d88e8c2f63aca9392f8063f54727252e" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhonoohg34" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/815102-3/wzhonoohg35.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=d88e8c2f63aca9392f8063f54727252e" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhonoohg35" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/815103-3/wzhonoohg36.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=d88e8c2f63aca9392f8063f54727252e" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhonoohg36" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/815104-3/wzhonoohg37.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=d88e8c2f63aca9392f8063f54727252e" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhonoohg37" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/815105-3/wzhonoohg38.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=d88e8c2f63aca9392f8063f54727252e" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhonoohg38" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/815106-3/wzhonoohg39.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=d88e8c2f63aca9392f8063f54727252e" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhonoohg39" /></p> <p>Mounted on the underside of the shield is the model’s only beam saber handle. It’s identical the ones used by Wing Gundam Zero. While I’m glad the model has a place to store it, getting the handle in an out of the shield is a tad difficult if you don’t have small fingers.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/815107-3/wzhonoohg40.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=d88e8c2f63aca9392f8063f54727252e" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhonoohg40" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/815126-3/wzhonoohg41.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=d88e8c2f63aca9392f8063f54727252e" width="480" height="640" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhonoohg41" /></p> <p>WZH comes with a Twin Buster rifle that’s identical to the Wing Gundam Zero’s save for the recolored handguard and the yellow stripe near the muzzle stretching to the inner edge of the separated rifles. This is the one part of the kit where I think the designer completely dropped the ball. That the rifle didn’t get any kind of customization is really disappointing, especially considering that both Fenice kits got a customized Buster rifle with a unique attachment for each variant.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/815127-3/wzhonoohg42.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=d88e8c2f63aca9392f8063f54727252e" width="480" height="640" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhonoohg42" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/815128-3/wzhonoohg43.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=d88e8c2f63aca9392f8063f54727252e" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhonoohg43" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/815129-3/wzhonoohg44.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=d88e8c2f63aca9392f8063f54727252e" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhonoohg44" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/815130-3/wzhonoohg45.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=d88e8c2f63aca9392f8063f54727252e" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhonoohg45" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/815131-3/wzhonoohg46.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=d88e8c2f63aca9392f8063f54727252e" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhonoohg46" /></p> <p>There is one new nifty feature however, and that’s the ability to attach the separated rifle halves into tabs on the inner side of the wing binders. This is also where the rifle halves are placed during Neo-Bird Honoo mode, as they no longer attach to the shield. </p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/815144-3/wzhonoohg47.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=d88e8c2f63aca9392f8063f54727252e" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhonoohg47" /></p> <p>And now for something completely different! WZH can pull off his two hilted wing binders to use as pair of <i>blazing</i> swords. It’s definitely a neat idea on paper. Aesthetically however, while the WZH’s binders look great jutting from its back, as swords they look less like an imposing melee weapon and more like a museum art exhibit that <a href="//shadowhearts.wikia.com/wiki/Frank_Goldfinger">Frank the Ninja</a> stuck a hilt onto.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/815145-3/wzhonoohg48.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=d88e8c2f63aca9392f8063f54727252e" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhonoohg48" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/815146-3/wzhonoohg49.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=d88e8c2f63aca9392f8063f54727252e" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhonoohg49" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/815147-3/wzhonoohg50.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=d88e8c2f63aca9392f8063f54727252e" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhonoohg50" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/815163-3/wzhonoohg51.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=d88e8c2f63aca9392f8063f54727252e" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhonoohg51" /></p> <p>The solution of course is obvious. Behold the Buster Sword!</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/815164-3/wzhonoohg52.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=d88e8c2f63aca9392f8063f54727252e" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhonoohg52" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/815165-3/wzhonoohg53.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=d88e8c2f63aca9392f8063f54727252e" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhonoohg53" /></p> <p>Transformation to Neo-Bird Honoo mode is mostly identical to Wing Gundam Zero save for the aforementioned differences (rifle placement and feet). Because the kit lacks a hole at the back of the rear skirt armor, you’ll need to use the hip joint hole to mount Neo-Bird Honoo on an Action Base 2.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/815166-3/wzhonoohg54.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=d88e8c2f63aca9392f8063f54727252e" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhonoohg54" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/815167-3/wzhonoohg55.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=d88e8c2f63aca9392f8063f54727252e" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhonoohg55" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/815183-3/wzhonoohg56.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=d88e8c2f63aca9392f8063f54727252e" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhonoohg56" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/815184-3/wzhonoohg57.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=d88e8c2f63aca9392f8063f54727252e" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhonoohg57" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/815185-3/wzhonoohg58.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=d88e8c2f63aca9392f8063f54727252e" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhonoohg58" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/815186-3/wzhonoohg59.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=d88e8c2f63aca9392f8063f54727252e" width="480" height="640" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhonoohg59" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/815187-3/wzhonoohg60.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=d88e8c2f63aca9392f8063f54727252e" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhonoohg60" /></p> <p>Whether you loved the original Wing Gundam Zero or weren’t sold on its cartoony color scheme, the WZH will cater to you either way with its <i>blazing</i> spirit!</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/815203-3/wzhonoohg61.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=d88e8c2f63aca9392f8063f54727252e" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhonoohg61" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/815204-3/wzhonoohg62.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=d88e8c2f63aca9392f8063f54727252e" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhonoohg62" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/815205-3/wzhonoohg63.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=d88e8c2f63aca9392f8063f54727252e" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhonoohg63" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/815206-3/wzhonoohg64.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=d88e8c2f63aca9392f8063f54727252e" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhonoohg64" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/815207-3/wzhonoohg65.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=d88e8c2f63aca9392f8063f54727252e" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wzhonoohg65" /></p> <p><i>~One of these things is not like the others!~</i><br class="giImageBlock-clear-both" /></p></div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-scale"> <h3 class="field-label">Scale</h3> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item">1:144</div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-content-taxonomy field-field-chardesign"> <h3 class="field-label">Char. Of particular note are the hip connections, which is a design dating all the way back to the early Perfect Grade kits then imported into the Master Grade line and finally into High Grade. Some kits from the second season of Gundam 00 started using them and the Gundam AGE line used them on pretty much all Federation kits. The earliest HGUC implementation I could find was on the Fullarmor Gundam 7th from 2009, but it didn’t get wide spread in new non-G Gundam molds until about 2 years later. Long story short this allows the legs to rotate independently of the hip connection which is now a peg instead of the more restrictive ball joints of old. Only the front leg armor moves and has a tendency to pop off. The back of the leg armor can swing up a bit but that’s only to accommodate the transformation.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/811164-3/wingzerohg10.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=fa0b390c283aa7d2a16a18f7d061e340" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wingzerohg10" /></p> <p>The lower torso is the standard fare. The front skirt armor comes as a single piece that can be cut at the middle to allow each side to move individually.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/811174-3/wingzerohg11.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=fa0b390c283aa7d2a16a18f7d061e340" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wingzerohg11" /></p> <p>The wing binders have plenty of panel lines on the inside to detail. I wish Bandai would figure out a way to make the yellow at the top a part. I always hated having to paint/apply stickers to that area.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/811175-3/wingzerohg12.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=fa0b390c283aa7d2a16a18f7d061e340" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wingzerohg12" /></p> <p>The weapons also are no slouches in the details department, though I wish paneling small parts like the beam saber handles was easier. Painting the yellow on the rifle was a bit tricky without masking tape.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/811176-3/wingzerohg13.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=fa0b390c283aa7d2a16a18f7d061e340" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wingzerohg13" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/811186-3/wingzerohg14.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=fa0b390c283aa7d2a16a18f7d061e340" width="480" height="640" class="giThumbnail" alt="wingzerohg14" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/811187-3/wingzerohg15.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=fa0b390c283aa7d2a16a18f7d061e340" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wingzerohg15" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/811188-3/wingzerohg16.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=fa0b390c283aa7d2a16a18f7d061e340" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wingzerohg16" /></p> <p>The completed kit stands about 13 cm tall to the top of its wing binders. As usual the binders make it a bit back heavy when unarmed.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/811198-3/wingzerohg17.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=fa0b390c283aa7d2a16a18f7d061e340" width="480" height="640" class="giThumbnail" alt="wingzerohg17" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/811199-3/wingzerohg18.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=fa0b390c283aa7d2a16a18f7d061e340" width="480" height="640" class="giThumbnail" alt="wingzerohg18" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/811200-3/wingzerohg19.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=fa0b390c283aa7d2a16a18f7d061e340" width="480" height="640" class="giThumbnail" alt="wingzerohg19" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/811234-3/wingzerohg20.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=fa0b390c283aa7d2a16a18f7d061e340" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wingzerohg20" /></p> <p>All the joints are nice and tight, and the hip joint does wonders for letting legs do the splits. For some reason however, opening up the binders loosens them a bit from their hinges and they need to be pushed back in before they can close properly. Also, the wing vulcans are missing again so I guess this is the standard now.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/811243-3/wingzerohg29.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=fa0b390c283aa7d2a16a18f7d061e340" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wingzerohg29" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/811244-3/wingzerohg30.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=fa0b390c283aa7d2a16a18f7d061e340" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wingzerohg30" /></p> <p>Accessory-wise, the kit cuts down on a lot of clutter by only having a single pair of holding hands.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/811266-3/wingzerohg31.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=fa0b390c283aa7d2a16a18f7d061e340" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wingzerohg31" /></p> <p>The white collar pieces can be popped off to reveal a pair of tiny molded gatling guns that need to be painted.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/811267-3/wingzerohg32.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=fa0b390c283aa7d2a16a18f7d061e340" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wingzerohg32" /></p> <p>The model comes with a pair of beam sabers. I felt that the handles were a bit oversized and went to compare them with the ones on the Master Grade Proto Zero version. Surprisingly the HG handle is longer than the MG one and can fit comfortable the MG model’s hands. The MG handle however is too thick to put into the HG model’s hands.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/811268-3/wingzerohg33.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=fa0b390c283aa7d2a16a18f7d061e340" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wingzerohg33" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/811269-3/wingzerohg34.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=fa0b390c283aa7d2a16a18f7d061e340" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wingzerohg34" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/811270-3/wingzerohg35.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=fa0b390c283aa7d2a16a18f7d061e340" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wingzerohg35" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/811271-3/wingzerohg36.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=fa0b390c283aa7d2a16a18f7d061e340" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wingzerohg36" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/811272-3/wingzerohg37.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=fa0b390c283aa7d2a16a18f7d061e340" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wingzerohg37" /></p> <p>For the first time in the model kit history of this design, the shield doesn’t attach directly to the arm but instead has a rotating clip. Unlike the Robot Spirits figure however, you only need to swap out the feet instead of the entire lower legs. The catch is that the alternate feet require a thruster part that you need to pop off the normal feet which is kind of annoying.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/811354-3/wingzerohg53.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=fa0b390c283aa7d2a16a18f7d061e340" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wingzerohg53" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/811355-3/wingzerohg54.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=fa0b390c283aa7d2a16a18f7d061e340" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wingzerohg54" /></p> <p>Note: It was at this point in the photoshoot that I realized I had put the wing binders on the wrong sides. It is an easy fix thankfully and you’d only notice it when you try to lay the open binders flat against the model’s back.</p> <p>The model has a hole below the hip joint that allows it to be mounted on an Action Base 2’s peg type holder. There’s another hole on the rear skirt armor for Neo-Bird mode.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/811356-3/wingzerohg55.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=fa0b390c283aa7d2a16a18f7d061e340" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wingzerohg55" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/811357-3/wingzerohg56.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=fa0b390c283aa7d2a16a18f7d061e340" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wingzerohg56" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/811358-3/wingzerohg57.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=fa0b390c283aa7d2a16a18f7d061e340" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wingzerohg57" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/811359-3/wingzerohg58.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=fa0b390c283aa7d2a16a18f7d061e340" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wingzerohg58" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/811360-3/wingzerohg59.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=fa0b390c283aa7d2a16a18f7d061e340" width="480" height="640" class="giThumbnail" alt="wingzerohg59" /></p> <p>This is a great kit for those who love the original TV design and obviously a huge improvement over the original 1995 release. There’s more!</p> <p>Around the time of the kit’s release, Bandai ran a HG Customize Campaign that sent out one of six random runners with each purchased model kit containing a weapon and parts to customize older gunpla releases. I got the somewhat mundane A runner which consisted of parts for a bazooka as well as parts for swapping out gunpla arms and waists. I only built the bazooka and while I don’t find it as cool as some of the mid-UC variants, it’s not bad after some paint on the targeting sensor and some panel lining. The bazooka can be mounted on a hard point but I don’t know of any kits that support this feature other than the HGBF Kampfer Amazing.</p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/811373-3/wingzerohg60.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=fa0b390c283aa7d2a16a18f7d061e340" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wingzerohg60" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/811374-3/wingzerohg61.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=fa0b390c283aa7d2a16a18f7d061e340" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wingzerohg61" /></p> <p><img src="/gallery2/d/811375-3/wingzerohg62.JPG?g2_GALLERYSID=fa0b390c283aa7d2a16a18f7d061e340" width="640" height="480" class="giThumbnail" alt="wingzerohg62" /><br class="giImageBlock-clear-both" /></p></div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-scale"> <h3 class="field-label">Scale</h3> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item">1:144</div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-content-taxonomy field-field-chardesign"> <h3 class="field-label">Char.
